On the morning of August 3rd, , he was one of the very first reporters to arrive at the Walmart Supercenter where a heavily armed mass shooter had opened fire on dozens of unsuspecting Saturday morning shoppers. For weeks and even months after that horrific day, where 23 people ultimately lost their lives, Michael continued to actively cover the fallout from that tragedy in El Paso's Borderland community.
Furthermore, it has not been lost on Michael that he now works in another city that has been deeply scarred by gun violence as Dayton itself also suffered a mass shooting just one day after the events in El Paso.
Michael has spent much of his reporting career as a multimedia journalist, happily heading out to cover community stories and events all by himself. In addition to his field work, which on several occasions even led to him covering stories in parts of Canada and Mexico, Michael also spent two years as the co-anchor of 'Good Morning El Paso Weekend.
Although Michael's family and friends are back in Washington D. Since his first reporting days back in Michigan, Michael has been joined in his adventures by his beloved dog Flynn.
