The new Winter Park Location was previously occupied by Paris Bistro, and the folks at Tabla did an amazing redo of the interior with white stone work, mirrors, wine racks and new dining tables and chairs.
In fact, it is so nice inside, one would think you are at a fancy high end restaurant, but it is a perfect redo for the Winter Park Crowd. A Tabla is a pair of small drums that have been fundamental to Hindustani music of northern India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh since the 18th century. Much like the musical sounds and instruments used in traditional Indian music, the foods found in those regions have become fundamental in shaping cuisine all over the world. The menu features a great mix of Indian, Chinese and Thai flavors and spices with classic dishes and new twists on old favorites.

Owners Paul Daniel and Tracy Reinstein -- from New York and San Francisco, respectively -- have revamped the place with backlit paintings and big swatches of color for a new urban, contemporary feel. It's amazing how much space was added by removing the walls of bookcases. Be careful coming in; the new expanse is so captivating that many people don't see the step up into the dining room -- including me.
Touches of Asia, Italy and the West Coast appear in these bites, and it's difficult to know how to categorize a meal made up of appetizers. The plates roll in as they leave the kitchen, so even though the service is exceptional, plan on a leisurely experience. Reservations welcome. Amazing food and service. I love the bbq shrimp and grits, fried livers are delish, ribs and collards are awesome. What a gem! Price was too high and quality of food was too low.. With a twist! This is an awesome take away owned by a family. The food is always hot and ready when promised. I have never had a bad meal from this little….
